Let's go bowling! No, I’m not referring to that highly frustrating game of gutter balls and missed spares (in my experience, that is) … I’m talking football! It’s still bowl season with the granddaddy of all bowl games right around the corner. Before I leave you with the impression that I object to traditional bowling or am an avid NFL fan, let me just clarify that, like all sports, I am in it for the food.

If you love great food, you love Lewright Meats.
Located in Eagle Grove, Iowa, the family business traces its rural roots to 1936 when it was founded by H. L. Lewright, Sr.
In its early days, Lewright Meats specialized in custom processing for beef and pork farmers. In 1963, H. L. Jr. joined his father in the business and they further developed their coveted meat-smoking and sausage-making techniques.
It takes a lot of volunteers, food and fuel to power the Iowa State Fair each year, and Iowa’s farm groups play a huge part in making that happen!

We love food and so do football fans! On Sunday, millions of people will gather around TVs to watch Super Bowl LI (51). Whether you’re cheering for the New England Patriots or the Atlanta Falcons, everyone cheers for good food!
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Super Bowl Sunday is one of the largest days of food consumption in the U.S. – second only to Thanksgiving. From buffalo wings, chili, dipping sauces, chips and pizza to homemade recipes, food is often the main attraction at a Super Bowl party.

They say a way to someone’s heart is through their stomach. Feed people good food, and they’ll be happy. I’ve found that comfort foods always deliver on this promise. Comfort foods also have the ability to transport you to a place and time, remind you of memories of the past, or, in this case, are rich and hearty enough to squelch big-time hunger after a long day of physical work.
