Candied Bacon Twists
Recipe from Kelsey Byrnes, Dance Around the Kitchen
Servings: 12
Ingredients
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon ground mustard
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 pound thick cut bacon
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and line a rimmed baking sheet with foil for easy clean-up.
Place a wire rack over the foil, coat with cooking spray and set aside.
In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, black pepper, mustard powder and red pepper flakes.
Lay the bacon slices out on a cutting board and sprinkle both sides of each slice with the brown sugar mixture.
Twist the bacon slices and lay them perpendicular to the grates of the wire rack so they don’t fall through.
Bake for 25 minutes or until crisp. If you notice the twists starting to curve, you can place a second baking sheet on top of the bacon to hold it down.
Remove the bacon from the oven, let cool and enjoy!
